The Right Belay System, the Right Installation and the Right Training = Safety at Zipline Utah

Posted by aapsadmin on October 21, 2015

zipline_utah_safety.jpgLife rated equipment are those pieces of equipment that secure you to a belay system or zip line. These items include the harness, tether, safety hooks or carabiner, and the belay cable or zip line. The personal equipment is rated in the 5,000 pound range. Zip lines and belay cables are life rated at 26000 pounds for a dynamic load. That seems to be a bit excessive but you are hanging yourself from 30 to several hundred feet in the air. However, none of these life rated pieces of equipment work without correct policies and procedures.

American Adventure Park Systems reviews policies and procedures as a part of all inspections, retrofits or new builds. Association of Challenge Course Technology set the standards for construction and policy and procedures. Zipline Utah is  adhering to the highest standards in the industry.  An ACCT certified  inspector is visiting Zipline Utah to assist with installation, staff training and procedures reviews.

Guides must be drilled on policy and procedures. They all must know the 4-H's : Helmet, Harness, Human, and Hardware. These items are check for each participant before entering the tours. A hot sheet is posted in the equipment room that guides must check each day  as a continuing education of policy and procedure. Guides adhere to a Code of Conduct to insure they are serious about the job they do and that they insure your safety.  Guides are trained in rescue. All guides need to be certified in Wilderness First Aid.  The guides must practice rescue training regularly.

Guides seem like a thrill seeking,  fun loving group. They do want you to enjoy your visit. When it comes to your safety the guides at Zipline Utah are as serious as your next heart beat.

The three R's of safety are the right equipment, installation and training. The Quick Trekker Continuous Belay System with American Adventure Park System gives Right Stuff.
